PRESS RELEASE

TLW Public Relations Wins Awards for Social Media Release, Web Design

Firm Wins Two 2010 Gold Hermes Awards for Work Done for Its Clients, Mission Solano and the California Youth Soccer Association

TLW Public Relations is the winner of two 2010 Gold Hermes Creative Awards, one for news release writing and one for overall website design, from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), an international group. The honors were granted for a complete redesign of the California Youth Soccer Association’s (CYSA) huge web site (www.cysanorth.org) and for a social media press release written for the nonprofit, Mission Solano (www.missionsolano.org).

Hermes Awards recognize “…Companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry,” stated Hermes Awards spokesperson Ed Dalheim, in an AMCP release (www.hermesawards.com).

There were 3600 entries in the 2010 Hermes Awards competition from across the United States, Europe and Canada. Winners were selected from 144 categories in advertising, marketing/branding, public relations and other forms of traditional and new media. Eighteen percent (18%) of the entrants won gold awards.

“The CYSA web site was a 40,000 page monster that we turned into a data-based driven, Content Management System that is now easy for the client’s staff to manage or edit, and for users to navigate,” says TLW Public Relations’ owner Deloris Roach (www.tlwpublicrelations.com). “It was months of work, so we are very happy to be honored. And, we’re always happy to be recognized for something that we do for Mission Solano.”

The winning press release was written by Roach, who also helped setup Mission Solano’s social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and a blog) and develop strategy and protocols for them. The CYSA web site was designed in collaboration with Tony Perrault, the owner and web designer for 4Reels Digital Entertainment, one of TLW Public Relations’ partner firms. TLW Public Relations has won five Hermes Awards in the last four years.

Social Media - Ski Resorts Doing It Differently

I was at a chamber of commerce event last night where I had several business folks ask me, "What is social media." I was a bit surprised. Social media is the animal that businesses, especially small businesses, have heard about, but are still not using (if you don't count email and many are still not using email marketing). But the undeniable force of social media use is here and is stealing customers/dollars from traditional print media. Hopefully, some of the folks at the event last night will take a look at this video from Ad Age/Vail Ski Resorts and think a bit.
